Abide
Looked but not half as well
as determined love for half a spell
In leaf blooms forgotten smell
Leapt atop the wishing-well
Forgotten time is nonchalant
Taking never giving what you want
Lazy entertaining sycophant
Mixed akin idiot savant
The hills and shade of Farmer's Field
Awaiting garden shall purpose yield
Knowing nonsense yet to be revealed
He uses daydreams as effective shield
As the night conceals the day
By saying all the dark things it would say
We are left with silence any old way
Don't be discreet some men would pray
To whisper red or pinkish lips
And raucous curve of rounded hips
In darkened berries he seldom sips
To town so often making trips
For reason none as if by chance
Just polite to reason's circumstance
No cause of wonders or Knight's romance
Hiding all the mystic evidence
The cloud descends first fog to gray
Saying all that smoke would say
Can't paint the picture any other way
The hounds and tweeds of Adelaie
Sheep not noble to Prince do bring
The Shepherd Crook and fieldstone Ring
Beguiled with whit and dabbling
To close in harmony each voice would sing
No ear to hear, no mind to pause
Original or perhaps proximate cause
The separation of the locking jaws
Broken dreams and snapping bows
If heart must disengage for right
Let day retrieve its loving Night
And heart be filled to grand respite
This last to be our ending sight
For dreams of love are better still
Than staring out the window sill
With time so bent upon the kill
Pray abide in love don't take the pill
