Expecting
What do you love
that cannot be taken
from you?
Is it folly for a
simple man to prove
his worth to
those who underestimate?
Is it fate for God
to rule fairly
knowing the secrets
in each heart?
Is it corrupt to want?
Is my comedy an
attempt to hide the shame
or disappointed rage
of this spoiled child?
Is it a victory to fool
the cast until
the envelope is
opened and revelation
cuts quick at our remembering?
Must good men die
to prove the value
of honor?
Is there someone for
whom donation of my life
would be seen as righteous to
the majority?
Is the weight of my
purpose estimated
by the number of tears
shed at my absence?
Is there something greater
than me or is the realization
of my hunger
the mastery of man?
