Chosen

Please don't get me wrong
When I say that this
is a love song
It might seem funny
and it might be too
long, but it's the only
way to the free this
prisoner, tucked
safely forever
in the comfort
of my heart
And sure I'm crazy but
in a different sense like the
tortoise must cross a thousand miles
for a little stretch of beach
freedom within reach
as I conquer my fear
to breach the distance
that keeps us apart
Ten thousand leagues
or maybe more but none of the
measurements count
of the fount I've drawn a deeper
breath, eternal life within
the end is where
I begin
but oh if you knew how
much a man could love
passion beyond resolve
as the stars revolve
chiming time
to ebb and tide
of wait
In dreams you wept and kept
stealthy secrets aplenty
for years on end hoping
he would send that one
meant to cherish and
challenge those who'd
come as you
slept
Though at the city gates
I will not seek to wander
but be free to be obedient
to my maker and my
lovely bride, content
to be a simple
man following
truth, love
and life
