Courage
Crooning to the midnight faces
Of the moon and outer spaces
Dancing in the daylight dawn
To those alive and some long gone
Walking where soles oft tread
The place of peace so little said
Wearing naught but well worn smile
Burdens dropped and set a while
Point so shallow where skin meets cheek
Hard to imagine could make me weak
Finger tip can hold so much weight
So much more than history and fate
Came and went with hair tossed wide
Splashed my face like crashing tide
Auburn, and orange and blackened edge
The time between us a beveled wedge
Back to the sea and heart toward home
No more frontier in which to roam
Man grows up and then he lives
Success all measured by what he gives
