Son

My Boy, there are some things I would tell you
About the world, the wind and the Lord
Some to astound and some to compel you
To learn well your belt, shield and sword

You are not a culmination of your failures
Nor are you label or product of success
Remember that God will ask you quite plainly
What you did and why when under duress

So think twice about the road you're choosing
And ask again for the will from above
You'll find that your winning more than losing
When you stick to the promises of love

Be careful what you say to all others
Whether enemy or friend or your spouse
And be thankful for the fellowship of brothers
And the warmth, light and peace in your house
