Shouts and Doubts

Passion after a fashion
Frightening to be sure
Waves crash from the ocean
One will seek to endure

So many things to juggle
So much to keep a float
Use your knees to work the rudder
As you aptly row the boat

Such prowess in your power
Provider for the pride
Bail when wave comes over
Overcomer of the tide

Can do it by myself
Have done it for so long
Alone is not lonely
Different bars to the same song

Backtracking to the certain
Trusting in the known
Or jumping into darkness
And finding I have grown

Will she hear my secrets?
Mistaken but not wrong
My words they tell of music
But my life it sings the song

Been through the great big desert
Wandering for a while
Taking my own measure
Shadow lengthened by the trial

To the clean it seems quite dirty
To the scared I look the fool
Though I see in my reflection
A man who's been to school

It looks like my forever
I have asked and shall receive
This dream may be a whisper
Or the truth that I'll receive

My eyes watch the horizon
My mind remains awake
I'll face my future strongly
Truth and love within my wake
