Faith

If there was a bus leaving to a distant solar system and you were one of the few selected to make this journey of a lifetime, would you go, all the time knowing that you would never see the ones you love or Earth ever again because they would all be dead for many years before you arrived at your destination? Would you take a job overseas that matched the things you had dreamt about since childhood if it took you away from all that you hold dear and secure? Would you go to battle as a pacifist if they threatened the lives of your children? Would you stop for a moment to build a cairn representing your gratitude for all you'd been given and shown? Would you leave your home intact and walk out into the desert just to be obedient? Would you make it your life's work to save brigands, prostitutes, lepers or child molesters even though you disliked them with every fiber of your being? Could you forgive those that stole from you or killed your pet when you knew that they had no remorse, would get away with their crimes and that it would probably never bring you anything other than peace? Could you take a look at everything that you do and make it your mission to rid yourself of every false, ineffective or morally shaky part of your character? Could you swim by yourself in the floods if God let go of your hand for a time?
