Weather

Sitting in the middle of turbulence
I have to find my way through the storm
All the way to Laslo with half a tank of gas
Can't seem to keep my body warm

Pieces of the mirror strewn around the chalk line
I went outside to gather my breath
Hanging out sideways along the horizon
The twister that wanted us instead

Pelted by bb's frozen by the ozone
Running all the way to the truck
Burning half my rubber just to get started
Realizing too late we were stuck

I'd never seen snow with bolts of lightning
Your choice of what makes you blind
We looked for trees to make out the roadside
But whiteout was all we could find

The kids kept screaming and it really didn't matter
We concentrated so hard we couldn't hear
If we could just find a simple place for shelter
I'm sure I'd probably pass out in fear

And just as it had started with very little notice
The blue just jumped out of the sky
I didn't really care if it was chance or miracle
The last thing I would have asked him was why

As we sat there you could hear our hearts pounding
We didn't even pull over to the side
My children just covered their faces with their hands
My wife just sat there and cried

We don't know what brought on the tempest
But we are thankful that we made it that day
I grew ten years in the space of forty minutes
And I'm thankful is all that I can say
