I took that which you gave me
And painted it red
Hoping to reach the stars
but arrived at Mars instead
I asked for the owner's manual
And was given signs instead
Considering the consequences
I think I should have read
Believing in the merchandise
I took for granted all I'd read
Persistent in naivite
I ate up all that I was fed
Grouping all acquaintences
Separating state from Fed
Learning from fools like me
I've lived the life I've led
Not having shielded my heart
Nor my opinions encased in lead
I think I'll figure this one out
Though I've got a simple head
Trusting my lucky compass
To pick which way that I'll head
I'll travel on past midnight
Then be grounded in my bed
And come this glorious Spring time
As I plant flowers in their bed
I will ponder what is coming
And reflect from A to Zed
