Heat
Dancing with a partner
Knowing every movement
Because they are the same
That you would make yourself
Harkened to the window
That you cleared
With one quick breath
And your pinched sleeve
As the mist rises
from the mossy trees
Your smile erupts
You turn, she sees
The corners of your mouth
Almost touch your ears
"Don't you love it"
As you walk onto the landing
You can hear your echo
Rambling through the night
So clear
The crispness of the moment
A shudder runs your spine
You tighten your grip
In that special place
Below her ribs
Designed for your hand alone
The cold retreats
Knowing it cannot win
Its nemesis
Between you
