When you are in trouble do you look for the closest object to wield against your attacker?
Did you join the gang because it was the only realistic option to protect yourself from the anger on the street?
Were you the girl who sought freedom from your reality by using your sexuality to remove yourself from the painful reminders of the life you were born into?
Did you become a bully because you were afraid of having your lunch money stolen?
When you needed love did you push everyone away to dampen the pain of never being accepted for your natural self?
Do you violate the space of others to reimburse yourself for the trespasses into your privacy?
When you have a problem that makes your stomach turn do you seek wisdom, advice from others and read about the issue or do you just ignore, suppress the emotions and turn your head?
When you don't trust people for continually letting you down do you start to let others down because you believe that it is acceptable behavior when everyone is doing it?
Do you go into social situations wielding a base ball bat taking out people's legs because you anticipate that they will try to take a swing at you?
Do you feel misery or feel pressure to be someone other than who you are in order to survive the threats of your surroundings?
Do you look for sexual conquest to make up for the love that you could never get from male/female role models in your life?
Are you searching for the one thing that will fill the hole inside of you because nothing you put in that space seems to work?
Do you know how frightening the world is to children and that they will sometimes be forced to do anything to survive?
You may not want to believe that there are answers to all these issues because the pain of facing your personal reality may be too much to take. However, the answers exist and hope and the desire for something better are the only tools you need to heal your wounds and live a life of safety, love and freedom from fear. If no one else loves you enough to show you how, ask me.
