Beyond what I deserve

Beyond the horizon of words
There your nature is described
And if I were to utter something so beautiful
My heart would no longer belong to life

There are so many things beyond me
And I stand there with the most fragile crystal workings
Cradled in my hand like a babe or a small bird
Knowing that I have been gifted

I thought my dreams could produce the unexpected
But I see real imagination staring me in my face
Proving once again how little I understand
And just why I am still here

You cannot catch a glimpse of heaven
And not become addicted to that smell, that sound, that breeze
Then you walk a zombie caught in a daydream
Looking for anything resembling the brightness you have seen

It is here but we are just to blind to see it
Once in a while something shocks us to open up our eyes
And we reach out to feel the bark or the frozen cavern
Knowing that we have been given all of this and more

And I have been chosen for some reason beyond myself
To see something that is not meant for this earth at all
Something so precious that like a child you wish to protect it
And like a new Parent everything else falls from view

But it is more than that desire for consumption
A set of stairs that wasn't there before
And just knowing that something quite so beautiful exists
Makes you want to take them three at a time
