the club

Ever feel like you
are on the outside
looking in?

Watching as the merriment
and festivities
begin

You want in so badly
your face against
the glass

You wonder how to
steal a
member pass

Standing out all
night in the pouring
rain

The hail bombards
your head yet you
remain

Then they call
your name to ask
you in

You never thought
that you could ever
win

They check you twice
to make sure it's
really you

They ask you
why you came and
what you'll do

You stumble to
find the words inside
your head

Later you can't
recall the things
you said

You stand around
looking cool in your
new shirt

Totally forgetting that
yesterday you
hurt

Then something catches
the corner of
your eye

The bright clothes
and smiles as outsiders
pass you bye

Now you feel that
sense that you have
lost

You made it through
the gate but at what
cost?
